Learning and Doing Opportunities at Denmark Farm

Denmark Farm near Lampeter is a 40 acre nature conservation centre. The following courses still have some spaces. It’s free and a great opportunity.

NATURAL LINKS – AUTUMN PROGRAMME ‘A HEDGEROW HARVEST’

Our next seasonal programme, which will involve a variety of practical activities & crafts connected with hedgerows, runs from mid September until the end of October.

 

This is how the programme will be run:

·            Each group will include a minimum of 6 / maximum of 8 participants.

·            So that they can get as much benefit as possible, all participants need to commit to 4 visits (3 visits - Group D).

·            Activity days begin PROMPTLY at 10am (9.30am for tea/coffee) and run to 4pm as follows:-

GROUP A            4 x Tues from Tues 22nd Sept (almost full)

GROUP B            Wed 23rd & 30th Sept, Thurs 8th & 20th Oct

GROUP C            * Totally full

GROUP D Tues 27th, Wed 28th & Thurs 29th Oct

* Group D will run during half term week. This is open to local individuals and small family groups.  Young people 13+ are welcome to attend with a parent or guardian and those aged over 16 can take part independently.

·            The 4 day programme includes: biodiversity of hedgerows (½ day) , medicinal hedgerow herbs (½ day) ,  basket making using hedgerow materials (1 day), making peg loom fleece rugs incorporating fleece dyed with hedgerow materials (1 day) & hedge-laying (1 day). Please note that the hedge-laying day involves sharp tools & takes place outside.

·            As well as making a lasting contribution to Denmark Farm, all participants will have mementos to take away.

·            Groups can be residential - simple dormitory style/self catering accommodation available if required.

·            A seasonal Celebration Event will be held during the evening of Sunday 1st November (more details to follow).

·            Please note that Natural Links is only available to adults and young people of 13+.

·            There is no charge to take part in the Natural Links programme, however there is a refundable deposit of £25 to be paid when booking, which will be refunded in full after you attend all sessions.
