Llandeilo at Start Festival

Start Wales Festival, National Botanic Garden of Wales, Tues 7th and Wed 8th September

Transition Town Llandeilo will have a display at this festival, which is part of the Prince of Wales’ UK Start Tour  We will be one of a number of organisations featured under the banner of "Carmarthenshire - a Sustainable County".  Others include the Dryslwyn Community Shop.

Start is described as "a new initiative to help people across the UK lead more sustainable lives and to show what a more energy efficient, cleaner and healthier future could look like."

The Start Festival will feature presentations and exhibits on the simple steps we can all take to make better use of our natural resources – energy, food, transport, buildings, waste – at home and in our workplaces. Start is a national initiative by The Prince’s Charities Foundation to promote and celebrate sustainable living.

The Festival programme will also include:

* The launch of The Prince’s Regeneration Trust’s Green Guide.

* Launch of Low Carbon South West Wales - the low carbon region plan for South West Wales.

* Launch of The Size of Wales - an initiative to sustain an area of rain forest the Size of Wales.

An article by the Prince introducing Start is here:

Presentations from groups, and by the Prince of Wales, will be between 10 am and 1 pm on Tuesday 7th, but the festival runs for two days.  We would like to have a presence at the festival on both days, but we will need volunteers to help out if we are to do so.  Please let me know if you are able to help.  Volunteers will get free admission to the festival and to the gardens.
