    Can we encourage as many as possible to sign and/or organise petitions - and if possible to attend the "Day of Action" at the Carmarthen Guildhall on Saturday 30th August at 10am.

    If the TTIP goes ahead, as is being discreetly negotiated at present, it will make billions for the US global corporations and ruin our society, economy and environment in the process.

    Bigger, better, bursting with good things green, but still intimate and charming...the 2014 Spring Greens Fair is back this weekend, 3/4 May at the wonderful Court of Noke, Staunton on Arrow. Mid Wales Permaculture Network will be there, of course (perennial forest garden plants for sale and adopt-a-plant with free plants for children. This year there will be even more wonderful food, activities, forum discussions, demonstrations, crafts, performace... see it all here:

Supporting Communities to Grow

A new programme to help people set up and manage growing schemes in the heart of their community has been launched across Wales by the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens (FCFCG).

Called Tyfu Pobl (Growing People), is funded through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013, which is itself funded by the Welsh Government and the European Union. The three year programme will support a variety of schemes, including community farms, allotments, community gardens, community orchards and Community Supported Agriculture schemes. It is a direct result of booming interest in community food growing and creating natural green spaces.

DIY Nematode Slug Killer

After recent rain the home front of the war on slugs will be getting busy.  Word on the street is that you can make your own nematode slug killer by catching slugs and letting nature take its course in a bucket for a few weeks. This is a bit like the way you can seed nitrogen fixing bacteria into a culture to boost mycelium in your soil.

Whilst not a practice for the squeamish - yes the slugs will die in the bucket as part of this process - it is robably no more horrible than any other method of disposal, is what goes on in soil anyway, and invoves no cost or chemicals.
