Hay Hits Silver Sceen
'Nigel In Transition'
The long awaited film triumph from our own Dave Prescott and talented team from Hay on Wye is finally here!
Watch it at:
See the community gardeners down on the Hayfield site, and catch the work on the famous Garden in Transition at the Hay Festival last year. As 'Nigel' ruefully says, Hay TT's achievements to date have included freezing the local populace in the draughty buttermarket and upsetting a lot of businesses in the town by expermetally closing the centre to traffic for a day. Getting people to leave their TVs and attend something less conventional has proved an uphill struggle - even in a town with a reputation for whackiness. So what hope is there for the more 'traditional' towns of Wales?
Jane Daviidson makes a couple of apprearances, leaving us to wish she were still in office at WAG, and, as Nigel walks away, we are left wondering if it's all worth it. But, as he says, the alternatives to sticking to our guns are too horrific to contemplate, and the kind of madness that inspires Permaculturists and Transitioners is the only way for some of us to stay sane.
