Sustainable Living in a Low Carbon Future
This weekend course at the end of October was led by David Burridge and attracted eight participants from the Llandrindod, Newbridge and Rhayader areas. It was a stimulating and in many ways exciting experience for all, with important connections being made between people, and some very good ideas being generated.
Participants represented many organisations that are concerned with Green issues, including Llandrindod and Rhayader Transition Towns, RENEW, Mid Wales Permaculture Network and Friends of the Earth, and the attendees were able to examine their own carbon footprint and identify ways of reducing it.
In addition the participants found the exercise extremely useful for generating ideas to take back to their own organisations, and the process also threw up radical new possibilities for projects which could further community building, and identify and access resources and skill sharing in the area around the main towns represented.
The workshop was handled skilfully by Dave in order to draw the best out of those attending: his supportive direction created a powerful ‘think-tank’ on sustainability and community building potential to tackle the challenges which lie ahead in a low carbon future.
